St Merryn | Other Layouts | Introduction | Shows Page |
St. Merryn BR(S) -1954 represents a fictitious terminus on the North Cornwall coast, approximately where Padstow is situated.
The station is at the back of the town, overlooking the sea, which is just visible in the distance, and the town and its surrounding countryside satisfies the annual holiday needs of thousands of Britons before the advent of package holidays abroad.
In addition to the usual facilities, there is a short branch serving the harbour area, which deals mainly with coastal traffic.
Just outside the town there is also a siding serving a training airfield - RNAS St. Merryn. The timetable is based on that for Padstow, including the Western Region connecting trains to Bodmin General. Additional movements are introduced by the trip workings to and from the harbour branch.
Control is by Digital Command Control, which enables us to carry out all the necessary locomotive movements without recourse to a large number of isolating sections.
