Guest Gauge - ScaleSeven

Ellerton Road is based on the old Midland Railway terminal station at Ilkeston Town, off the Erewash Valley line. The fact that one member, who was able to supply most of the locomotives and rolling stock required, models the Midland Railway c1906, set the railway company and time period for the layout. With one exception, none of the members of the group has built a layout before, so this is a ‘first attempt’ which does not have a permanent home and can only be set up after special arrangements have been made.

The layout has recently been extended with further boards built to include the two bridges over the River Erewash and the Erewash Canal. Including the start of the junction triangle means the layout is now 51 feet long. Track is constructed using riveted sleepers for the pointwork with cosmetic chairs fitted later and functional chairs used for the plain track. Working signals are built from a mix of MSE and Scale Signal Supply components. Work is in progress to illuminate the signals.

Presented by the HMRS members of the ScaleSeven Group.
