Fylde Area Group (May 2018)

Postby mike_t_norris » Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:58 pm

The 24th May saw the group meet with five members present and apologies from four.

Peter Sutherland brought along his Duke built from a Finney kit, with an analogue sound system which seemed to have a mind of its own, but came out with some reasonable effects. It included the usual fully working inside motion that Peter builds into his locomotives.

John James also bought along one of Arthur Kimber’s North Eastern 0-8-0 loco chassis and tender that he was in the throes of building, hopefully this will be finished by the next time we meet.

Pictures are shown below.

Our next meeting is at Anthony Miller’s, Lowton St. Mary layout, on the 28th July, members should have received an invitation directly from Anthony.

Following this our summer recess concludes with a ‘run and natter’ meeting on the 20th September.

Hello Mike,

The loco and track upon which it stands very nice indeed! Is the featured layout Preston? At the risk of sounding like a real track nerd, I think the design of the strecher bars gives a heavy clue!

All the best,

Colin

Excuse a touch of pedantry, but I think that the GWR engine, (3353 Pershore Plum) is a straight frame Bulldog, not a Duke...

Hello Philip and Colin,

Philip - sorry you are right, I made some notes about the visitors that evening but got failed to note it correctly.

Colin - yes you are also correct, it is Preston, quite how the Great Western got that far I don't know! The stretcher bar need to be that robust for this layout, it gets quite a bit of hammer on Operating days.

Thanks for your interest.
