Midland Sidings features the Midland Railway in the early 1920s (i.e. just before the grouping).

I have the pleasure of posting revised Bring and Buy forms this morning. Moving to these new forms would be appreciated, if you have already started work on the older forms posted earlier in the year.

I'm hopeful I can more fully list the shows attractions on this website shortly. In the mean time, do download the full guide (PDF).

From the photos, the back scene looks remarkably good .... how was it achieved?

Hi Tim
My apologies for the delay in replying, I failed to notice your post! The back scene is a proprietary item from "id Backscenes" bought via Howard Scenics. The descriptor is "Harvest Hills": I have no idea where it was taken, although we suspect it may be the Brecon Beacons. It looks very similar to the Lomond Hills north of Dunfermline, and was the main reason I set the layout in the Cowdenbeath/Kelty area ( just 10 miles north of my home.
If you make it to Scalefour North then please give me a shout, otherwise there's more info coming in May's BRM.

I.D. Backscenes do a huge range of good quality mainly UK backscenes 10ft long in either good quality paper or more expensive self adhesive vinyl.

https://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/backscenes.htm

Around 1ft sections of #202 pack A

This is a rough experiment using #202 pack D. The distance from phone to vertical backscene was around 50cm.

Thanks for the link but there doesn't seem to be the 'dirty urban industrial northern city' design that I need. I'll have to get some photos and a paintbrush out!

Cheers,

If we can find a table and power point, I will go through the RSU with you, Bernie.

I have been invited to demonstrate resistance soldering for the whole weekend at Scaleforum in September and will have a second unit available for modellers to have a go themselves.

That would be tremendous David, thank you. Hopefully come September I'll be flying along and maybe help out with the demo?

Thanks again,
Bernie

A trader having dropped out, I have been offered a table so I will set up my RSU and a second one for anyone who has questions or would like a go. I won't be there all the time as I have another job taking photographs at the show, but I will be available at various times on both days.

If anyone going to the show has a specific question or would like to bring anything along, then do so and perhaps drop me a PM as well.

I was looking forward to attending S4N this weekend for both days and operating Ray's United Mills layout. UNfortunately Jacki done something drastic to her back and I can't leave her on her own. That leaves me with a hotel room and breakfast booked at the Rhubarb Triangle Permier Inn in wakefield (walkeable from QEGS). If anyone is in need of a bed for Saturday night drop me a pm.

Hope the rest of you enjoy the show and all goes well

Cheers

Chris

Thanks to all for a cracking show yesterday. Loads to see, lots to talk about and the highlight, despite it being set 70 years to early for my normal interests, was Dewsbury with what have to be the best looking baseboards I've ever seen...

Yes, as always it was a very good day out. Good journeys each way (apart from the early start!) although the HST on the way back was uncharacteristically bumpy. Some fine modelling and we bumped into huge numbers of old friends. And some very good food, which is course the only reason we came all that way. Many thanks to James and the team.

A really enjoyable weekend. Beer, curry, spending money at the show and talking to the demonstrators and many friends. A good selection of layouts and trade.
Dodo with my etched P4 chassis paid a visit to Rolvenden K&ESR with the managements permission late Saturday afternoon fort running trials.
A fourteen wagon train with a high percentage of white metal wagons tackling the gradients out of Rolvenden station caused some wheel slip.

A wonderful day oop north for the mrs and I. Wonderful layouts both complete and in progress.
I would like to thank a few people if I may? Steve Carter for a great welcome, Jeremy Suter for his usual superness and the stewards and all the others in the backround that made it happen.

Traders of personal note were Ambis (sorry I don't know his name), Phil of SLW, Derek Russan (and Matt) of Eileen's Emporium, John Redrup of LRM, Colin of AG, and most of all Chris G of High Level Kits. I am sorry if that sounds like a plug for them, but they really took the time out to make this newcomer understand a little bit more. I really appreciated it.

David B of this great parish gave me a lightbulb moment with his RSU demonstration. A hugely talented man, Sir!
If I ever create something of note, it will be down to you. Thank you.

I would like to also thank the staff and customers of The College public house for a pleasant few hours waiting for my train, and lastly the passengers in my carriage for a most relaxing return home.

Super day out.

Many thanks to a wonderful weekend. Lots of friends there, so much that I hardly moved a couple of feet without having a conversation. I failed to fully check Brassmasters, London Road, Eileen's, Bill Hudson, Ambis, Alan Gibson, Coastal, Mousa, Sutton or Protocab, but I knew what I wanted to buy this weekend and will now have a fully working and detailed loco soon. Apologies.
I also took a few photos.
The silver streak that was called 'Saskia" has gone to the scrapyard and a blue ( LNER, nanking or is it chromatic) is it's replacement. Will my next car be Apple Green, followed by black, then BR early blue and then brunswick?

I had a good weeknd, thanks to all who dropped by and talked chassis. However, I have returned home without my venerable orange anglepoise lamp. I don't really understand how I could have done this as I packed everything away and stacked it while I went to get my car. Please let me know if it has appeared as I have had it a very long time and am rather attached to it!

EDIT - it's been found so 'panic' over!
