I am pretty sure there is a coffee machine in the cafe area.

Steve,

If things are as per the last few years the Stadium cafe is open on Friday afternoon/early evening (but I don’t know when it closes, Terry may know), also there is a Costa self service machine in the cafe area (again I don’t know if tea is available.

See you on Friday when you arrive.

Ah good....
We had an issue when we went to the Great Electric Train Show at Gaydon last year when, despite this being an international conference and exhibition venue, there was not a single coffee machine, bar, or soft drinks machine in the place, and the Hornby crew didn't seem in the least bit concerned that 100 or so of their invited guests setting up their show, couldn't get a drink or snack.

Perhaps I'm just getting old and grouchy!

I have not been over the the venue to check but I would assume that the vending machines are still available. Exhibitors will by now have read their information which was posted a couple of weeks back and will know the arrangements for food on Friday evening.

Probably one of the many reasons they've decided to move the show to Milton Keynes for this year. In fairness the show had grew beyond the capacity of the venue. The previous year to last I helped to operate one of the large layouts which was supposed to be in one of the side rooms, except the venue had hired the room out to a conference for the Friday making set up very late!

I just rang the Millwrights Arms to reserve a table for me and Howard for Saturday and they confirmed they do have an alternative menu of 'proper' food for those like my co-operator who regards pizza as glorified cheese on toast :thumb

In order for us to complete preparations for admitting people to the show with advance tickets, I will take the online ordering option down on Thursday afternoon. The exact timing will depend on my work commitments (somewhat variable these days).

"Its come at last" - well almost. :D The major event in the Society's year is almost here. For the organiser, yesterday was spend collecting the van from the hire centre, loading said van with all the exhibition equipment, kept in a storage unit with the stand stored at my house, and yesterday evening in a windy Aylesbury, I spent a happy (?) hour fixing up the direction signs. I wonder how many people see them? A few last minute small jobs to be done this morning.

At 13.00 today the fun starts with unloading all that equipment loaded yesterday, setting out the hall and waiting for all the exhibitors to arrive - including traders and those who help to run the event, this is 220 people. We will finish at 21.45 this evening and then back bright and early tomorrow at 08.00.

Hope to see lots of you tomorrow. :D

I do wonder just how many people really appreciate the 'behind the scenes' work that is done for our benefit.

Well done and thank you Terry and as a very famous statesman used to say KBO!

Another great show. Spent to much money as usual, but hey you can't take it with you. Thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Totally agree and well worth the temporary back pain incurred after 5 hours of driving. Poured with rain in both directions and the M4 was a bit of a mare going home due to those who don't know how to drive properly.

Many thanks to all those who did the organising, entertaining and educating. :thumb It was good to put a few more faces to names. And particular thanks to those of you who scooped up 90% of the 36 items I deposited on the bring and buy stand in double quick time. Obviously I underpriced them. :D

Despite no longer actively modelling I shall look forward to returning next year.

Yesterday was pretty perfect for me too. Some great demonstrations, really helpful to catch up with people and elicit pearls of wisdom they perhaps didn't even know they were giving, and I thought the layouts on display were really enjoyable. :D

I am looking forward to the time I can dedicate a weekend to the show rather than a stolen day :)

So a big thanks and thumbs up from me. :thumb

Yes indeed, a great day out. Very many thanks to all those involved with organising, running, attending and supporting the show: well worth the six hours driving. (Special appreciation for the stewards outside in the rain to help car parking.)
I particularly enjoyed the number and range of demonstrations.
As always, brain suffering from all the useful information gained from demonstrators, exhibitors and others, and credit card suffering from over use.
Regards,

I thought that this was the best S4um I have been to. The layouts in particular were excellent and with the no barriers set up it was easy to speak to the owners and operators. Snaffled a few goodies on the bring and buy too. Travel via train was greatly helped by the show guide having local bus services highlighted. A long day out from where I live but totally worthwhile.

A big thank you to all those who helped organise the event. As it was Terry Bendall's last show as manager I thought he signed off on a high.

Best. Show. Ever.

Even Fran had a great time, she doesn't usually care for the modelling side of things, so great praise indeed!
Well done the Millwrights' gang, see you next year!
