I attended the event last year and for those interested in the D&E scene it is well worth while. A pleasant, informal setting with an opportunity to talk, learn and share ideas.

Agreed Terry. That's why I offered 'Enigma' as a visiting layout, using the industrial diesels as motive power. I also met a few staunch 'kettle' modellers there - who I will not name for fear of embarassing them

I am sure Paul no steam era modellers would be embarrassed at being seen at a D&E focussed event. (and I appreciate the spirit in which your comment was made ) Good modelling is good modelling regardless of scale, gauge or period modelled. The current issue of MRJ shows this well. Gordon Gravett's magical Arun Quay in a space 7 ft 6 ins x 1ft 9 ins, then some wonderful models of GWR clerestory coaches in 7mm and then some very subtle refining of a Heljan Class 47 by James \Wells with some very constrained but authentic weathering. The description of how the inset track on Canada Street was achieved was very helpful and interesting and is not specific to scale, gauge or period and the same applies to the article by Andrew Gibson on his model of a very simple bridge at a scale of 1:150.

It would help if they got the Post Code correct in the directions.

Alan, if you have any advice on the post code a PM would do rather than dig us up on an open forum. This is the post code we used last year and everybody found us. There are two postcodes given in directories for the building 3SS and 3SY. We were advised it was the latter. I have since made further enquiries and they have advised us to use the first one as it is closer. There will also be signage so it wont be an issue.

If last years event was anything to go by it’s going to be a great little exhibition showcasing the best in finescale D&E modelling.
Sadly I’ll not be there as I’ll be heading off on holiday.
Cheers

A really great day for anyone interested in modelling the railway post-steam.
Not quite an exhibition and not quite a group/club meeting, a really lovely combination of the two with some fantastic modelling on show!

I think Splott was my personal highlight!

A huge thanks to all the Scalefour Society members who came along to support the 2nd annual DEFine modellers day.
The day was a huge success, it was great to see all the visitors engaging with the layout operators and demos.
Regards,
Bill.

A few pictures from the DEFine day.
if any pictures show upside down, click on them to open them and they seem to be ok. Perhaps just my computer.
