Re: expoEM 2016
Good first day at expoEM 2016.
A lot of interest shown in St Merryn and also our demo stand. AJ couplings and the various techniques used to produce the stonework on St Merryn were the top topics of the day. There were also questions about converting class 416 EMU's to P4 (watch out for questions on this being posted on the Forum), point rodding and then the thing that stumped me, CSB's! Fortunately Mark Tatlow was visiting and kindly helped out
Another day beckons tomorrow and we look forward to welcoming more visitors.

Re: expoEM 2016
Very proud that St Merryn has been presented with the Peter Denny Memorial Award for the most authentically operated layout at expoEM 2016.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Fantastic to see the seminal Metropolitan Junction by the late Doug Williams on display.
Real nostalgia from the days of the Model Railway News of happy memory (for some of us).
What an amazing survivor.

Indeed! I was particularly taken with the round-top boilered Nelson 'Lord Howe'
Re: expoEM 2016
Richard, John,
I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Metropolitan Junction in the flesh and thank you John for posting your photo of "Lord Howe".
The warm reception from many of the expoEM visitors made the effort of getting it there, putting all the bits together and actually running trains so very worthwhile. All of us involved in caring for this priceless heirloom were proud to bring the achievements of Doug Williams to a wider audience and especially to hear from quite a few visitors "of a certain age group" how they had been inspired by Doug's writings in the old MRN/MR/YMR and MRC magazines. We even had two gents that had visited Doug and MJ at home a good few years ago.
You can see more photos and some info (eg the current track plan) here: https://uk.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/metjct/info
Hopefully more info will be uploaded soon, including reprints of DAW's constructional articles.
Searching for Metropolitan Junction withim the RMweb site will yield some more photos and comments.
Paull Karau, another admirer, is kindly publishing a history of Doug and MJ, written by Andy Avis, in Model Railway Journal issues
246, 247, 248.
Regards,
Rodney Hills
