Hi all

Not seen this mentioned elsewhere.

I'll join you Jm.
I can see a lot of Martin Finney in the etches, framework to build up the cab roof, fold up base for the footplate.
I haven't seen the etches from the 7mm version from Martin so cannot compare but if this is based on the same etch design it should go together well.
I hope they build one completely before release

I am in the queue for this

I think I'll have a go at one of these too... I know it says on the page that the last pair require parts not included in the kit, but I wonder who will be the first to build one of them as such?

Cheers,
Tim

Oooh. My favourite. I think I'll buy enough kits to build the whole class of 35.

I purchased one of the Princess kits when that came out and made a comment in the email exchange with John J that if they released a Duchess I would be seriously tempted. When he updated their website with the announcement he sent me an email saying I should have a look at their website.

Suffice to say, I have my name down for one as well.

My 1959 ABC certainly says 38 (last of class 46257 City of Salford). It was a class I had 'cleared' in my spotting days, but I think that was after the first couple of withdrawals - I'd have to find my marked-up 1960s Ian Allans to be sure.

Yes, reserved one as well. Hopefully they'll be able to turn out a few more than 40 before the resin mould expires.... And if spare etches / castings become available, I can see a few DJH kits being upgraded.....

This was a kit that Martin flatly refused to make available in 4mm because he thought the etches alone would be too expensive to produce (that's what he told me at the time, anyway), and he didn't think there'd be many wanting to shell out that kind of money.

Suppose similar reasoning applies to not producing the Bulleid Light Pacific in 4mm.

If you're the winner of tonight's £57.8 million Lotto (the winning numbers are all BR diesel classes, BTW), you'll be able to clean Brassmasters' production out several times over.

I can see this kit plus tender breaking £300 before you start shopping for wheels (only Ultrascales are correct) and the rest.

And as for Ultrascale wheels, David Rogers has a large bag full of a couple of hundred axles' worth of P4-profile Duchess driving wheels with steel tyres in stock (I've seen them), so it shouldn't take him six months to get them to you.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

There were going to be 42 but the universe ended early...

Yes. I meant 36 as the kit won't do the last 2.

I've asked Brassmasters to comment on this point.

Update:

Further to Phil's observation, here's what Brassmasters wrote -

"...The artwork has been produced by ....Geoff Hurley using AutoCad – Martin did not produce his 7mm kit using CAD but he allowed us to use his GA drawings and design work to help us develop a 4mm kit. So it would be accurate to say that it combines the best of Brassmasters and Finney."

So there you go.
That would be an ecumenical matter.
