P4 Conversion of Bachmann Plasser Theurer Track Tamper

Postby John Fitton » Sun Nov 09, 2014 7:11 pm

I am interested in getting one of these nice little models: does anyone know what wheel diameter they have, and if they convert fairly readily to P4?

Cheers,

John Fitton.

Hi john

I might be wrong but I don't think it's 4mm scale. If it is you will likely need 10.5mm wheels

My sources confirm that Jim is correct and this model is in HO scale. Moreover it is a type which has not run in the UK. It is quite difficult to get asccuate models of track machines. One of the bets kits ois by Jonathan Buckie and is of a
08-16 4x4 C100 type. More details are available at

The alternative is to scratch build you own.

Thanks Terry and Jim,

I did some more searching last night and it seems to be an old Lilliput model, to HO scale. Stopped my order from Hattons just in time!

Did you look out for the Britannia Pacific Model instead. Allegedly not perfect but a million times better then Bachmann, I think the wheels should be 2 foot something.
Ordsall Road (BR(E)), Forge Mill Sidings (BR(M)), Kirkcliffe Coking Plant (BR(E)), Swanage (BR (S)) and Heaby (LMS/MR). Acquired Thorneywood (GNR). Still trying to "Keep the Balance".

A million times better, but ten times the cost! I can get an O gauge loco kit for less than that ...

Some people just don't appreciate the time and effort that goes into keeping models out of the maturing cabinet.....
