Society CCU dimensions
If anyone has a bent-up example of a Society CCU, can you tell what it measures (width-wise) over and inside the outer frames?

Re: Society CCU dimensions
I have a 9' WB example which I have measured to be 22.9mm (+0/-.1mm) between outer frames, and 24mm (+.1/-0mm) over frames. The outside measurement has possibly been affected by the remains of a layer of adhesive for securing cosmetic sides, but not by much.

Thanks, John, but crikey, I can't imagine how a 26mm pinpoint axle can possibly fit in bearings within a 22.9mm frame slot.
The past is a indeed a foreign country.

Re: Society CCU dimensions
I have yet to find my box of Society CCUs, if indeed I still have them, but in an attempt to keep Russ busy I had a measuring session on that part of my stock that I could find.
First bogie frames, all bar two of these are designed for springs, they are measured without bearing holders. The exception with a rocking end was a very misconcieved design but I included it anyway. The MJT design was not measured as the width is not fixed.

Re: Society CCU dimensions
I have located a pair of the original Society CCUs, the ones with beams resting on the axles.
These are 23.7 mm between frames, 24.3 mm over the outside, etched in 0.3 mm brass.
They are 8'6" wheelbase versions if that matters.
Regards
Keith
