Stephenson valve gear

Postby Philbax » Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:10 pm

Hi everyone.
I am in the process of building a Brassmaster class 5,
What I would like to do is 4767 which has Stephenson valve gear.
To this end I have the valve etch from Bill Bedford but as usual their are no instructions.

Has Anyone any experience of building this ech?

Knowing Bill, if you follow the way the prototype is completed/put together, you should not be too far out in completing the valve gear.

Well, you might like this 7mm beauty with which I was seen consorting at Railex.

In ncase you all thought this had died a death, some pictures of the final outcome.
After issues with the slipping drivers and a jamming gearbox (all of my own making) after pinning the drivers as per Tim V all is running as it should be DCC fitted as well.
The second picture show just how effin little room there is in P4 and in fact I had to move the valve gear our fractionally in order to get a working clearence.
If Danny has room on the S4 stand at Railex next week I can bring it along, alternatively I will see what we can do on the RDMC club stand

Please do. I'm bringing my camera.

I've just bought a second valve gear fret just in case the first one goes Pete Tong.

Hi Phil,

If you like you are also more than welcome to give it a run on Brinkley.
