Narrow Gauge Group

Postby Armchair Modeller » Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:09 pm

Does the Narrow Gauge Group still exist in any shape or form?

I see it is listed as a group on the Society web pages. There is also an intro page there.

It is not mentioned, as far as I can see, on the Blue Sheets though.

The reason for this is that Paul Holmes allowed his membership to lapse this year, and although he has now renewed he was not a member at the time the Blue Sheet was produced. The Blue Sheet is generated from the membership database and so if an AGO or other office holder is not a member, they don't appear. The BS is produced each year immediately following the AGM so that it can be circulated with the July edition of Scalefour News.

I'm not aware of any recent activity (last several years) by the NGSG. This group was started many years ago by Lynden Emery, sadly no longer with us, and Paul took over in 2005 I believe, and although I'm unsure of the status of the group Paul is an active narrow gauge modeller, and it may well be a good idea for you to contact him.

If you contact me by e-mail or PM I will let you have Paul's e-mail address. I won't include it here as this is a publicly accessible area of the forum.

I’ve received an enquiry from a past member asking if there is an active 4mm Narrow Gauge Study Group within the Society.
So, if there is, or you are interested in resurrecting it, then please let me know.
Many thanks
Steve

Paul Holmes' Borth Y Gest was at Scaleforum in 2007. There is You Tube footage of the layout:

Re: Ffestiniog Slate Waggon kits

I represent the Broad Gauge Society and manage 4mm sales of kits and bits.
For reasons lost in the mists of time I hold a few etches for the 2ton braked, unratcheted waggon.

I would like to sell these to a good home and start by asking here if anyone is interested.
I have put an ad in our sales pages.

In case I get no response can anyone let me have an email address for Dr Paul Holmes?

Ffestiniog slate waggons

Postby Paul Townsend » Sun Aug 18, 2019 5:25 pm

Gosh, 2 requests for more info!
I am surprised as I have sat on these for 5 years and they have been on BGS website most of that time.
Perhaps the key is the "Broad" versus " Narrow" ;)

Here is a piccy.

F4112 Ffestiniog slate waggon etch.JPG

There are 13 available at price shown on classified ad as £4.50 each inc postage or £50 + postage for all 13.

They are etch only as illustrated and are 4mm scale.

There may be a few more available later on ( not imminent ) when I re-order the large etch sheet which contains four of these waggons. That re-ordering will be determined by BGS demand for the other items on the sheet.

Having said that, if someone wants more than I am offering now and is willing to pay more I could generate a new etch photo tool just for batches of these waggons. I guess the price might double.

Perhaps a Society who specialise in 4mm NG would like to commission this?

Your timing couldn't be worse as Bachmann have just released a nice RTR version of the slate wagons for OO9

I see the Bachmann ones are over £15 each and Peco do some at about £10 each. I daresay someone wanting several might prefer the economic route via our etches.
