P87 developments

Postby grovenor-2685 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:50 pm

Not sure how many of you keep up with P87 development so thought this worth copying over. If it can be done in 1:87 why not 1:76?
Guys,

All truck and drive tooling has started with the drawings wrapped up by Evan this weekend.

Our traction motor samples will arrive in April. The Blomberg and HTC side-frames should have T1 samples ready in early May.

The truck is scale. We modified it to hold scale traction motors that each contain a motor. The gear ratio is 49:1.

Each motor is electronically controlled by a decoder that functions on either DC or DCC.

The wheels are available in either RP25 Code 88 or P87. Additional variations for European railway gauges will also be done for the traction motors.

We have a "Diesel" discount code on the web-site until the end of the month that gives you 15% off your entire order.

Our new fans, hoods, and dynamic brake sections have also begun CNC machining this week as well. T1 samples will be arriving in May.

All the best,

Keith:

This is very impressive, but it has to be said that it's also a bit beyond us when some of us who want to have a go at turning our own P87 tyres can't get hold of any wheel form tools. :(
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Can it be done though? Seen this a year or so ago and most of the stuff on the site was cad renderings. While the cad is nice it's not proof of a working product.

Cheers

Currently he is claiming delivery of most of the parts, and has video of the motor and gears running in a test rig. Seems to be quite close.

He went broke, ditched Railflyer and came up with Phoenix-micron.
This is the last post I saw from him on the P87 Yahoo group.
Hello,

We’ve just passed our first anniversary with 100% order fulfillment by the end of this month. The first two of our nine WiFi-Nodes will be run with V1.4 this week.

Considering the amount of adversity to move past, it’s a great accomplishment.

Here is some video of the WiFi Locomotive Drive on our YouTube Channel:

Most of our in stock accessories can be found here, among them are many locomotive detail products:
http://www.layout-ioe.com/collections/accessories

There is also non-toxic, 100% concentrate Windex thinning paint:

So all the best for 2015 and thank you for the support.
