I'm pleased to report that this years show WILL be going ahead subject to any restrictions in place at the time.
Solrail Ltd organise the event and aim to put on a show that is family friendly with a mixture of layouts in various scales and standards of finish.
We were very pleased to host Bob Hetherington with his Scalefour Stockton & Darlington layout, Garrigill, on its first ever outing to an exhibition. It went on to visit Scotrail to great acclaim. We had hoped to have it again last year and this but Bob feels that he is not now up to bringing it. He will however be attending as a demonstrator and showing his latest scratchbuilt locomotive in Scalefour.
He will be joined by John Wright, from Washington, who will be demonstrating model locomotive conversions to Scalefour.
Amazingly we have managed to persuade Newcastle & District Model Railway Society to attend with their Scalefour layout, Port Solway. This is based on the North Eastern Eastern Railway with a Maryport & Carlisle Railway connection.
The venue is not your usual gym, school or village hall. It is a bespoke centre for teaching apprentices and has to be seen to be believed. Fully accessible, all on one level, air conditoned, excellent refreshments at very reasonable prices, free parking on site for over 250 cars etc.etc.
Further details about the exhibitiin can be found here: - http://solrail.co.uk/exhibition.html
