In November I picked up a set of books on "Practical Coalmining". Apart from being a wonderful snapshot of the industry from 1910-30 it gives detailed and dimensioned drawings of coke ovens. Smithywood was built in the 1930s so the ovens were too new for the book but to within an inch or so this is the best info I have on the ovens. It's a shame I've been tied up with work.
Ordsall Road (BR(E)), Forge Mill Sidings (BR(M)), Kirkcliffe Coking Plant (BR(E)), Swanage (BR (S)) and Heaby (LMS/MR). Acquired Thorneywood (GNR). Still trying to "Keep the Balance".
