Thirteen people braved the freezing weather to attend this all day meeting which lasted from 1000 until 2230.
(We are having one “Progress Day” per month in order to make progress on the Group layout).
Richard Marshall arrived just before me and had already got the heating and the kettle on. Thanks Richard. The
layabout gang trooped in one by one and set it up on the Hall’s tables (we remain legless!).
Most of the work, ably led by David Clarke and Tony Wilkins, centred around removing surplus ballast which
had to be chipped off. Remember, this layout rebuild (it is second hand) is a vehicle for learning new skills. It is
already proving its worth as we now have several members who are no longer new to track building and having
Tony Wilkins on board to keep them in line is of great benefit. The other layabouts were Richard Marshall, Ken
Kirk, Brian Slater and John Slack.
Last but not least, Tony Franc came after a year long illness and got stuck in to the ballast, as it were. Thanks
Tony. Two other long lost members visited us that day, Rob Milliken stayed for an hour or so whilst his Wife was
being cared for and Barry Wilson was fetched from home by Richard. Barry has health problems and has to use
a wheelchair. It was great to see all three again.
Other than layout work, the following was undertaken.
RICHARD Continued with finishing a crossover.
KEN making EZ Points servo modules for his layout
JOHN was helping Ken and others with electronic things.
BRIAN was making wagon kits.
DAVID was working on his own test track.
BOB DUGDALE was showing David how to do things with various servo actuators and also building a Midland
signal box kit.
TONY Wilkins worked on some track panels for his layout also helped Ken with a recalcitrant piece of
electronics.
Three others attended in the evening plus Tony W and Ken, making five.
MARTIN NIELD Was fitting scale couplings to an engine and rolling stock.
HOWARD BOLTON was working on electrical locking cables.
NIGEL FAWCETT was working on his Cupar Station buildings.
All in all, a very pleasant and productive day.
Ken Kirk,
Group Coordinator

I would have liked to come down but I'm afraid the weather put me off. Perhaps next time.
