To all who helped at the Midland Railex this weekend,
Please accept my sincere thanks for your help and hard work at the show. In
all, ten of us helped on the three days, representing nearly half the Group.
With commitment like this we can be sure of a thriving and productive Group
in the future.
We had four people expressing an interest in joining the Society, one of
whom has been invited to come to our Group in September as he lives in
Brian (Shawplan) Hanson, who has a stand at the show, wants to join NAG as
he lives not too far away. He will be an asset to us. I've asked him if he
would give us a presentation on his activities. He's not committed yet but
I met David (wagons) Larkin there who has kindly offered to give us a
presentation on PO wagons taken into BR ownership. He hopes to come in
He also has a presentation to give on modern signalling. David was a
professional signalman for many years, so knows what he's about and will do
this at a future date. As we have some professional railwaymen in our midst,
this should be an interesting evening.
Here are a couple of pics of the stand taken on the Sunday. I pounce on an
unsuspecting "exhibitionist," who took the films. Unfortunately, in my rush,
forgot to set the camera's mode until the poor man had had a few goes.
All turned out right in the end though.
