Those arc shaped plates on solebars? Any out there?
I'm looking for etches of the arc shaped plate that holds the bolts from the top of the W iron on some wagon solebars. Mainly Trains make them, but at the moment to get the sheet with them on you have to buy all their other wagon detailing stuff. Does anyone make an etch with just the plates, or with only a few other components?

Have you looked at the MJT W Irons?

How many do you need?
I've been through all of my "wagon fittings" spares box. Unfortunately it seems that the Mainly Trains etch is the only one that features these.
I don't have an immediate need for them, so if you'd like them I'll snip them off the etch and pop them in the post to you.
I'm sure that I've seen them elsewhere included on various wagon chassis etches. The long deceased range from Omega Models might be what I am thinking of. I'll have another rummage later but for now I have to return to trying to track down the annoying clunk from the rear suspension of my car…
Cheers

MJT has some on their W-iron etches.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

Thanks for this input. The MJT route would make sense, except for the fact that I have committed to Bill Bedford springing rather than compensation. I have several wagons using a variety of types of suspension (and none) and I came to the conclusion that springing was best.

At only £1.85 for 3 wagons' worth (plus the coupling hook pockets, owners plates, horse hooks, etc) the Mainly Trains etch looks a pretty good deal. Of course, if you find yourself paying a tenner for postage (as I often do, for the privilege of the package crossing 20 miles of salt water) it has to be part of a larger order to make any sense. That's when MJT's habit of adding little extras to etches bought for other reasons proves so welcome ...

The individual MT etch with the bits I want is a good price, but last time I looked at the MT website it wasn't available without the other two etches. Maybe they have updated their stock, in which case, yes I will be getting some

And whilst looking for the etched plates, in my wagon spares box I found these:
I wonder how long it has been since these were "state of the art"...

Flared trousers were fashionable when those were produced.
That would be an ecumenical matter.

I think they may pre-date flared trousers...

Excellent Mr Rixon. Exactly what I was looking for with no additional unwanted bits. I hadn/t come across NBR before. Loys of wagon parts, and a weighted points lever as well!! Thanks

I seem to remember building Kenline Wagons kits in the early 70's so they were certainly concurrent.

I thought those Kenline parts were made in the 60s, but still sold in the 70s...

I probably bought those in the late 80s when the model shop that used to be in Midland Arcade, next to New Street Station, closed down...
They used to have drawers and drawers of useful bits. Most of which are still cluttering up my drawers of "useful bits"
Of course, back then no one would have really envisaged how etching would take off as a production process and now how CAD makes it so easy to produce these sorts of components.
