Twin Gas Tank Wagons

Postby Knuckles » Sun Aug 25, 2013 7:00 pm

Does anyone know where I can get a twin gas tank similar to the example at the very top of the following pic? Apparently not just for gas as pic says.

I think I have only seen one at Pendon.

A model would be great. Kit or either.

Thanks in advance.

The APOC tanks used to be a very popular model but this is the first time I have seen the Bibby one. As you noted none of these are gas tanks. Gas tanks were almost all used for carriage lighting in pre-electric light days and would work between the railway works and various stations and depots where carriage lighting needed to be refilled, they were commonly on old carriage underframes.

David Geen does a GWR DD5 twin gas tank wagon, as do Falcon Brass.

David Geen does a twin gas tank GWR 'Cordon'. The GWR diagram is DD5. There is a picture of a similar wagon (not David Geen's) on this site about 3/4 way down the page. The David Geen kit is very much better.

The Falcon one is here: http://www.falconbrassworks.com/details.php?code=WK128
