Further to discussions at the meeting on April 12 on cleaning prior to painting. Iso-Propyl Alcohol (also known as Propan-2-ol) Code GPS1007-E can be purchased from www. Atomscientific.com in bottles from 0.5 L up to a 25 L Drum! I bought a 1 L bottle (£3.50 net) 2 years ago and still have half left having cleaned several engines and carriages prior to painting. It certainly leaves a grease free finish.

Re: Iso-Propyl Alcohol
Looking for some IPA to clean fungus off a slide I checked the website.
It's almost doubled in price since 2011. Now £6.77.

Very variable prices on Amazon so it pays to look at other suppliers on the site. Ebay often cheaper too.

Prices are always variable depending on quantity.
Looking on Amazon, the price per litre even from the same supplier drops significantly as you go from 1L up to 10L. Problem is a typical modeller doesn’t want 10L.
Of course prices will have increased over the past few years as well. In the case of IPA there has also been significant demand for use in hand sanitation driven by Covid, which will also drive prices up
