Proposed Cornish Area Group

Proposed Cornish Area Group
Following a period of uncertainty over new premises, Falmouth & District Model Railway Club is looking forward to moving into new headquarters early in the New Year. These will hopefully provide not only somewhere to erect the P4 layout that we currently have in store, but also workshop space, along with our existing Club layouts in 00, 7mm, 0-16.5, and 2mm.This move should allow us to put into place a long held plan to establish an S4 Area Group for Cornwall, particularly for those members living in the central, south and western parts of the County.

We have in store a sizeable layout begun by the late Pat English, which we hope will form the core of any Area Group activities. This layout is currently in two parts, a large terminus station based loosely on Kingsbridge, and a smaller through station with an extensive fiddle yard. Both are substantially complete as far as trackwork and wiring, but little else has been done on them. Our hope is to be able to re-erect these layouts as a single project and to make at least part of it available for exhibitions. The Club already has three active S4 modellers and we look forward to welcoming any Society members who may wish to express an interest in forming an Area Group. With this in mind I hope we can look at circulating Cornish members early in the New Year with a view to setting up an initial meeting.

Good luck with that Steve - when you get yourselves settled we should arrange some reciprocal visits.
