Well, after much umming and ahhing about the date (for some reason, not all railway modellers recognise that 14 February is *not* a good night to go down the pub to discuss small trains...) the members of CHEAG met last Thursday night in our usual haunt at the Coach & Horses in Newport.
Once we had dispatched some routine business about the restoration of "Pampisford", the discussion turned to the 2013 SPOT-ONish Challenge...
For this, we have decided that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and will be copying the locomotive building subject of the Armchair Modeller's Challenge, as announced in the latest edition of the News. There will be some slight modification to the timing - entries will be declared at the next CHEAG meeting, in March, and the deadline for completion will be set at the end of November 2013, enabling judging to take place (and the awarding of the all-important SPOT-ONish Trophy) at the Christmas Group Meal.
The scope of Challenge will be "4mm Finescale", to encompass those of a more narrow-minded persuasion who are very welcome within our group
To support this activity, CHEAG will once again be holding a couple of Saturday Workshops. These are intended to be on 2 March and 6 April, at a local venue. As previously, the aim is for us to come together and do some modelling in a convivial atmosphere, where help is available if needed, as well as raucous banter and derision...
As always, any finescale modellers in the area are welcome to attend the workshops, or join us in our regular monthly meeting.
Cheers
