The ultimate is the Bergeon 30432. Sturdy, well centred, holds down to almost nothing, lasts a lifetime.

Bergeon is the tool supplier of choice for Swiss watchmakers.

I bought a few over 20 years ago from their Factory Shop in Le Locle for about £4 each when the exchange rate to the Swiss Franc was more than twice as good as today.

H S Walsh stock them but now the price is around £20.

I do own a couple of sets of proper Eclipse (up to 40 years old, bought long before China was an option), but for small drills this Bergeon is the business. They do other models at equally high prices nowadays

Well, £21.12 after VAT and postage ... But thank you for the tip - I have bought one.

I recently replaced my ancient worn out set of Eclipse pin chucks with a set of Starrett pin chucks.
They're much better quality than the Far Eastern variety but are priced accordingly.
But there, you get what you pay for.

I use one of these and find it excellent for drills and taps. I got mine from Squires a good few years ago, but they don't seem to do them anymore.
