Blade and Crossing Filing Jigs usage
Can you remind me what range of angles CVF caters for please? (Stores list doesn't say).

Re: Stores Stock: Blade and Crossing Filing Jigs now availab
I just asked Jeremy, and he says it covers 5, 6, 7 & 8 crossing angles. We also realised during the conversation that we'd forgotten to include the postal supplements (£2) on these weighty items, so the listing in the stores has been amended.

Thanks to the good offices of members of the South Hants group the Society does have a drawing for a vee filing jig for 9 10 11 and 12 crossing angles. If there was sufficient demand we may be able to get some made. They would be expensive if only made in a small quanitity.

Re the BFJs, it's not clear which etched letter refers to which slot. Does the letter to the left refer to the top slot? Were instructions ever posted/printed? It's a nice piece of kit, I'd hate to mis-use it!

Not sure which issue of the jigs you are using, but on the batches that have been done in the last couple of years, if you hold the jig so that the numbers are the right way up, taking the 1 in 5 and 1 in 7 side as an example, the figure 5 is above the central slot and the 1 in 5 angle is to the right of the number. the figure 7 is below the central slot and the i in 7 angle is to the left oif the figure. T'other way round on the 1 in 6 and 1 in 8 side. i in 6 angle is above the central slot and to the left of the figure, i in 8 angle is below the central slot and to the right of the figure.

Thanks Terry. The crossing bee filing jig is fairly obvious, it's the blade filing jig with A,D and B,C on it that I'm little unsure of.

The clue is to look at the edge. The different angles should be fairly clear then. Both the slots are the same so the end that is nearest to the letter A will be for an A blade and either slot will do the job. You could put both blades in at the same time and file them at the same time.

Where can I find the instructions for using the Society's point blade filing jig?
