Distribution List including members in the USA

Postby peter3292004 » Wed May 31, 2023 12:01 pm

Dear Scalefour Modeller,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I emigrated to the USA about 10 years
ago and live in the North Georgia mountains about 1 hour north east of
Atlanta.

I have been model railroading for about five years. My interests are
• planning - I work part time for https://www.traininstallations.com/
creating CAD track diagrams.
• operations - I have found the various ways the USA prototype think they
can keep their trains safe fascinating ! I also have spend time
researching how car forwarding (routing loaded and empty wagons / cars) can
be simulated
• modular layouts - I discovered TOMA at MRH
https://forum.mrhmag.com/post/publisher ... a-12607139
and have created my HO scale model of my re-write of history to bring the
railroad to my home town of Dawsonville.
So why do I belong to Scalefour - first to keep in contact with British
humour. I regularly see items on the forum or the newsletter which
brighten my day. I hope that one day my modelling skills will enable me to
achieve "standards of accuracy in other aspects of their modelling". I
appreciate this is only a small part of what the Society aims to achieve.

I am reaching out to you (via this forum post) to see if you are
interested in creating a distribution list which will allow us to contact
each other to help with modelling challenges or may be just to share the
delights and challenges of living in North America.

NMRA Standards on their website amongst other "admin" projects.

The simple thing if the other group members are willing would just be to extend the Canadian Group to cover all of North America.

Actually that was what existed before the Canadian group was formed. Given the distances involved and the number of members, an actual group meeting is highly unlikely even as things stand so something virtual would make sense. The only event over here that attracts P4/S4 modellers AFAIK is the Great British Train Show the next version of which will be next spring. In the years I’ve attended I think the maximum number of S4 members at any one show was possibly 5(?) and they were mostly from Ontario with one Manitoban for diversity.

Cheers,

David

Hi Peter,

It appears that we currently have 22 members resident in 14 States in the USA, although my copy of the database is nearly a month old so that might not be exactly correct.

We can't pass on their details to you, but if you would like me to I can e-mail all those that we have e-mail addresses for with your contact details and a copy of your forum message.

Looking at their forum history, there aren't many that are likely to see your message on here.

I will e-mail you as separately with more details.

All the Best
Danny

Thanks Danny but Peter was in touch with me about this last week and I've already emailed all the USA members we have an email address for with a message on his behalf.
