The next Cragies meeting will be held at the former Midland Railway Station Masters house at Kirkby Stephen on Tuesday 17 May.
Meet from midday. Lunch will be provided by Stephen but please try and let him know if attending so that he can make enough for everybody.
Weather permitting, the layout will be erected to see how much of it is now working.
Apologies for not reporting on the last two meetings but family circumstances got in the way!
In March we erected several boards and managed to run a locomotive over another one. There was however one problem where droppers had not been fitted by the previous owners to one section. The problem was that it was a road underbridge and the space under the tracks was sealed by plywood, so the track joints were going to be soldered across for a quick fix! The previous issue with 50% power in some lines, when there should have been zero, may have been narrowed down to being caused by the point polartity switches being wrongly wired. Hopefully by the time I next visit we will have the answer.
I could not make the April meeting.
It has been very frustrating as we have not had the whole layout up to check everything out in one go but if the sun shines then more progress will be made. Long term Stephen hopes to make the layout available for exhibitions, but not until all the electrics are finally sorted.
Considering it is really just a single track mainline with passing loop in a station it is proving very hard to get working.
If individual members could offer to work on either buildings or scenery then rapid progress could be made.
This would allow Stephen time to devote to finishing off his railway room and once complete a nice home for the layout to be put up in and worked on!
Philip
