Fully Erect, 8th March

Postby Lindsay G » Mon Mar 09, 2015 1:08 pm

No group meeting this month (but see the P.S.). However, another milestone was reached yesterday, so a wee update is justified.

Several nearly-local members were cajoled into erecting the layout in its extended format in order that the new footprint and optimum layout orientation could be established for Warley 2015 and any other future exhibition appearance of Burntisland 1883. This was the first time that all new and existing baseboards would be assembled together and since we’ve now outgrown our normal meeting hall, a local Scout group were prepared to allow us use of their hall for the day. Unfortunately, even that hall wasn’t big enough to get a good shot of the whole layout – this will have to suffice :

Amazing how some new backscene boards can keep a few poor souls amused for hours :

P.S. Several group members will be helping operate Alistair Dickson’s layout, Colinton, which is centre stage at a Balerno Branch Railway Weekend held in the Water of Leith Visitors Centre, Lanark Road, Edinburgh over the weekend of 21/22nd March (free entry – donations accepted).

But I see Kilroy and a friend were there. No sabotage I hope.
