Bristol (BS4) Group inaugural Show and Tell.

Hot on the heals of the workshop evening the Bristol (BS4) group held a Show and Tell last night with twelve members attending although not all were brave enough to show!

There was a distinct audio visual feel to the start of the night with Paul Townsend showing how he designed and produced baulk road broad gauge track and points using Templot, a CAD programme (Coral Draw) and a laser cutter. Paul brought along a number of examples which certainly prompted discussion. This was followed by Pete Tarver presenting how he used a CAD programme to draw elements of Ilkley Engine Shed which can then be used as a basis for laser cutting.

Tim Venton our new Scalefour News editor talked about the production of the magazine although not giving too much away about what will be in the July issue.

Noei Anderson showed and gave some interesting information about WW2 vehicles including an ambulance and a couple of scout cars which were often found in the 1950’s on trains on their way to disposal.

Robin Gay brought along a couple of finished buildings for his model of Wantage station, the station offices and a stable. This led to some explanation and discussion of the materials used.

I brought along a nearly completed Highland Railway Lochgorm Tank and Fish truck

Finally Paul Hutfield showed some 16mm narrow gauge stock that he has recently acquired and is restoring.

The general consensus is that the evening was a success and would be repeated hopefully with some photos to share.

Yes, but it is permanently occupied.....the BS4 group know who dwells there!
