Thanks for this Jim, very interesting - and it was on a ex-GWR line! Interesting too to see Ruston PWM 650 at work. I have to admit that I never knew that these PWM locos actually went out on the main line to work as well as being in the PW Depots. The double jib crane was also ineresting. Was it BR or ex-GWR in origin? A kit for one might be nice.

They did, travelling 'dead' in PW trains. I think the idea was to let the engineers have their own loco on site for major occupations, rather than having to rely on the Loco Dept.

Thanks for the info Noel. I couldn't really see that loco pulling a train on the main line for miles. The only time I saw PWM 650 was in the distance from Taunton station platform when I was nobbutt a lad.
