Is there any information and guidance available on how to use the society blade filing jig please?

Me thinks such things would be perfect to link to the Wiki page ... then presumably a simple word search would bring up the link. Similarly with Allan's link to discussion on grit blasting via specialist airbrush?

Thanks gentlemen. I notice that the blade jig shown being used has two clamp screws, mine arrived with only one, it does not have the one that inserts directly into the body of the jig. Do I have to resource another one myself?

These jigs used to be supplied with two machine screws and washers but recent ones have only one screw. I queried this with Jeremy at Scaleforum and he told me that the second one was unnecessary - and he's right. The piece which is screwed on to protect the foot of the rail will also firmly clamp the rail as well so that, when filing the head and foot in the first stage, that piece is used at the opposite end to where you are filing. This has the benefit that, for the first stage filing, the clamp is well away from the area being filed - with the old arrangement, the screw in the middle got in the way.

I tried it on mine at Scaleforum and, lo and behold, it works. Full marks to Jeremy!
