Exactoscale PW023

Postby Paul Townsend » Tue May 28, 2019 10:58 am

I am a sucker for tools gauges etc so picked up a "bargain" at Scalefour North Bring &Buy :)

It is the track gauge kit identified in the title to this post. I find no instructions in the pack and may have thrown away my Exactoscale catalogue when Bernard died. It may be here but misfiled following house move!

Does anyone have said instructions to share?

What does it look like?

A picture might be helpful.

Tim V will probably know.

I am guessing the set of eight are gauges for setting the track gauge, and the set of two are for setting parallel tracks.

According to the Exactoscale catalogue no. 16, pack PW 023 contained the following.

Exactoscale Parallel/Triangular Gauge to P4 Standards.

This pack contains components for the construction of one parallel type and one triangular type track gauge.

The latter incorporates automatic gauge widening.

P4 gauge.

I assume this refers to the same pack.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Joe, but what I am looking for is assembly instructions.

I may be able to work out how to do it but why re-invent the wheel if someone has instructions?

Can't help with the instructions but this is what they look like when put together:

Ha, so parallel on the left, triangular on the right? Just wondering also how much 'tolerance' is built into all those soldered/riveted/bolted joints?

That great, thanks Alan.

No more difficult than a Bill Bedford kit!

I subscribe to the " Can't have too many track gauges brigade" and have samples of every type I know of in P4

From the look of it you could assemble the track gauges using a piece of accurate straight track as a jig. Oh, wait.....

I was sold/given a load of negatives and slides from Exactoscale including lots of photos of track parts that Bernard was developing. I will have a look to see if there is anything similar in them. I also have a load of bits from the sales stand. Sadly no wheels. Some one removed those !

Hi Paul,
I could send you a Round-Tuit from my 3D printed parts lucky dip box, if you wish. :)
