On Thursday 15th October we arranged a meeting by Zoom for the group. The meeting was attended by eight members, with apologies from two.
Several members had projects to show, Richard had photographs to share of his Standard 5 with BR1C tender demonstrating his first foray into using weathering powders, it all looked very convincing.
Peter showed us some glazing material which he is about to try called PETG at 0.5 mm thick, hopefully we will find out how this goes next month. Steve showed us his ’O’ gauge track and Pannier; live from his loft based railway room! Then David Gardner showed the extent of his work on a gantry for his Preston layout, including some tiny subsidiary (call-on) signals. John has been busy on a chassis for one of his early locomotives, unfortunately I didn’t note down what it was!
Finally David Beale commented that he had wood for the baseboards of his new layout and in the meantime had been abusing, quite successfully an Oxford Models open 7 plank, to get the moulding to ‘bow out’ rather than ‘bow in’, this was done by immersing into boiling water with a suitable block inside the top of the sides, this produced the desired effect and also gave the paintwork a nice weathered look – 2 wins for the price of 1.
The next Zoom Meeting is arranged for Thursday 12th November at 8.00pm.
Not sure if will be available then.
