Not all that it seems at first viewing - a 'run-past' perhaps?!! Who nose.

But I am intrigued as to what that vernier caliper was about to be used for, in the succeeding frames!

Lovely models, DRAG members -and a very neat piece of test-trackery. Can't wait for the first layout.......

You have inspired me to delve in the depths of the loft for packs of LSWR 3-bolt chairs and Derek Genzel's copious notes on the prototype.

Best wishes

Here are a few photos taken at last Monday's DRAG meeting. We are now using the OO and outer P4 circuits on TT2 on a regular basis, albeit with jury-rigged wiring, until our electrical wizard Pete (ably assisted by John Farmer) has completed the wiring looms:

He won't thank me for posting this one with the skewed buffers (;-)), but it does show the superelevation of the middle two P4 lines, the inner most and outer most are not superelevated.

Some more update photos: all tracks now laid (but not all yet powered) so we were able to have a sort of golden spike ceremony (except obviously the loco on the right must have tripped over it)

And a lineup across six tracks - 8CEP on the 00 track left, then four P4 tracks and the M7 on a P4 loop on the right.

It's surprising how long it's been since we put anything up on this thread!

Last Monday night, we put TT2 up for some play value, having spent the last few meetings fettling and doing other jobs on it and ran one of our longest trains so far. David Mead brought a long rake of his PO wagons in, which at first were hauled round by his Finney 'Aberdare'. Then we added some of my own (unfinished) wagons, and substituted some diesel power:

I would like to propose a competition. 'The DRAG Challenge T-Shirt' open to members and guests.

The winner will be the person who drives the longest train round one circuit of any P4 road on the DRAG Test Track without any derailments. The closing date being the Christmas dinner. The prize to be a superb DRAG T-Shirt donated by me! The winner will also have the honor of holding the known UK record for the length of a P4 train!!! :D

RULES:

-The 'competitor' will be the owner/driver of the loco or loco's or DMU's'EMU's.
-The competitor must complete one circuit of the track without stopping or handling/interfering with the train in any way.
-During the circuit there must be no derailments.
-There is no limit on the number of tries a competitor may have.
-Double heading and Banking in rear are both acceptable as is Steam or Diesel/Electric haulage.
-Wagons and coaches are both eligible in making up the train but can only be mixed together if the train, as a result, is reasonably prototypical.
-Wagons and coaches may be owned by the competitor or borrowed from any one he or she may choose.
-Coupling can be made by any method but the train must be close coupled. A 1m length of cotton between each wagon will not be acceptable!!!
-Competitors attempting to bend or interpret the rules to their advantage will be booed!

I have a feeling we won't have TT2 next Monday, probably just bringing in our own projects etc. - will check that and let you know...

Might I suggest that Scalefour News and our next editor would welcome lots of pictures and text for the December issue.

Certainly, John. We still have some work to do on the wiring and getting the levelling of the boards 'just so', after which I would imagine that the 'Very Long Train Challenge' will commence...

Looking forward to finally getting to see TT2 on Monday (I am right in thinking DRAG is on Monday?)

Now franticlly trying to get my model of Clan Line finished so I can give it a test (along with a couple of other recent projects), then off to Bristol in September.

Hi Rich,

Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I don't think we have the transport to get TT2 to Holcombe on Monday night, so this coming meeting is going to be a case of bring your own projects, nosey in on others doing theirs, chat, drink tea, eat cake, drink more tea..... you get the picture! ;)

Umm, is this event open to visitors in October? I shall have 14/16 finished Comet coaches to shove around with the newly finished and working Scot. I may get this upto 18 but I don't think the other 4 will be finished - still count?

cheers

Plenty big enough!! 16 Coaches or 100 wagons hauled by steam would be something to see and well worth a try! :D I'll check tomorrow on a possible October Open Competition Night open to visitors! :D I've a feeling the home team will take some beating mind!!
