DRAG 10th anniversary

Postby Rod Cameron » Tue Dec 10, 2013 7:28 pm

Ten years ago the inaugural meeting of DRAG was held in a Wetherspoons in Newton Abbot, not long after I had forsaken the bright lights of Kent for the relative calm of Devon. Since then we've built two test tracks, recovered two P4 layouts, held mass invasions of Scalefora including a couple of demonstration teams, and hosted the AGM. Friendships have been made, lessons have been learned and a lot of laughs have been had.

So to celebrate the occasion Marlene Browne (Mrs Treasurer Dave) kindly made us a celebratory cake. Normal activities were interrupted while I made the ceremonial first cut (probably wearing the same shirt as for the first meeting). Tim Maddocks and (left background) Nick Rogers eagerly await their slice.

I do feel very lucky to be part of such an excellent area group.

And the fruit cake was excellent, nice that James May turned up to cut the cake.... :D

Well done Rod.

Nick.

Happy Birthday DRAG, Just one question though,
it is customary on a birthday to supply everyone with at least a slice of cake :D
It would seem to have been overlooked, I am sure there are many members whom not yet received their slice of birthday cake to enjoy as part of your celebrations.

We'll try and remember that for the 20th Trevor, although they might have to be 2mm scale slices and you would have to come to Devon for it.

Congratulations from the Bristol group (who celebrated their 23rd anniversary in August)!

Now about that cake....
