The Devon Riviera Area Group (DRAG) meets twice per month on Monday evenings, alternating at two separate venues in Teignmouth.
Catchment area is basically Devon from Plymouth to Exeter, and south of Dartmoor.
Membership currently stands at about 20 and attendances of around a dozen people are normal. Most focus is on developing a modular Mark II test circuit which will feature four tracks with minimum 5 ft radius curves, transitions, superelevation, some P&C, maybe even some gradients, and full DC/DCC capability. Meanwhile the Mark I circuit gives us something to play on. This all enables members to develop their woodworking, tracklaying, wiring and troubleshooting skills as suits their preference and provides a running-in facility for old and new stock alike - and a lot of fun. Members also bring their current projects along to work on or just to have a chat.
A new project involves the restoration to possible exhibition condition of the late Nigel Hunt's 1970s layout 'Swaveney'.
Mass invasions of DRAG members to Scaleforum and RailWells are routine and other shows are visited or exhibited at - several individual members have their own layouts in various stages of development.
If you are interested in coming along or would like more information or help on any aspect of the group, the Scalefour Society or P4 modelling, please contact Rod Cameron on
