Best early Mini and Minor Van

Postby Tim Hale » Wed Oct 17, 2012 4:08 pm

Would you advise?

I am moving from the early 50's to 1960, but my small number of early 50's vehicles could be replaced by a Minor van and an early Mini but who makes the 'best' of these two BL icons?

Thank you

Tim

Tim,

There's no Mini here, but have you seen this list? There are many other road vehicles from the period.

Plenty of 50s vehicles around into the 70s, I was driving a 1954 split screen Morris Minor in 1974.

Hi Tim

Dunno about the moggie but i prefer the corgi mini to the oxford one. Its a good idea to strip the caked on paint off and fit wheels from the springside mini as per the white one below.

Jim,

Many thanks.

One will appear in the car park of Beaminster Road.

White Mini appears to be a Mk1 (rear lights and window size) and would be more in keeping with 60s.

I finally managed to obtain a Corgi Mini by purchasing the 'paint it yourself' pack for just £4.00.

The Mini is definitely the same as the white car with smaller rear window but I remain perplexed as Corgi is owned by Hornby as is Oxford?

Surely some mistake?

The yellow one started off from the same model as the white one.
