Connoisseur Models releases

Postby Paul Willis » Fri Jan 22, 2016 7:28 am

The Scalefour Society has been very pleased to receive the following information from Jim McGeown at Connoisseur Models.

He has produced some more limited production from the old 4mm range and hopes to sell them direct in a manageable way using his website (http://www.jimmcgeown.com/4mm%20Scale%2000%20Gauge.html).

Jim says that between about 1996 & 2006 he produced a range of 4mm scale products derived from his 7mm scale kits. For a number of reasons he then had to abandon the 4mm products to concentrate on 0 Gauge kit production. Some of the 4mm tooling is still useable and Jim has had considerable encouragement from noted 4mm scale modellers to produce some limited production from this tooling.

Now available are:

LNER Class Y7, 0-4-0 tank loco, Price £40.00,
LNER Class J79, 0-6-0 tank loco, Price £40.00
LNER Class Y6, 0-4-0 tram loco, Price £50.00
LNER Class N7/3, 0-6-2 tank loco, Price £60.00
LNER Class J50, 0-6-0 tank loco, Price £55.00.

The tooling lends itself to the production of about twelve of each loco type at a time and further batches would depend on the state of the tooling and level of interest. So if Society members want one get it when available to avoid disappointment.

Full details are available on Jim's website, http://www.jimmcgeown.com/4mm%20Scale%2000%20Gauge.html

The locos are available direct & postage free from Connoisseur Models:

Nr Weobley

Telephone 01544 318263.

At risk of boring members with yet another picture of it, here is my own Y6 tram loco that was built from the Connoisseur kit:

I remember when the Y7 was part of Jim's "Pocket Money Kits" range (late 1990s), and being amazed that an etched brass loco kit could cost so little.
That would be an ecumenical matter.
