NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTIONS

We are very please to be able to send newsletters again as it has been a while since our last newsletter due to technical problems. If you are expecting to receive this by email and have not, or if you want to recieve directly please send an email to us with subscribein the subject line.

NEW PRODUCTS

We are excited to have several new products in the pipeline. There are 2 new shapes of Tweezers, inside grip body holders for painting and some pin pushers. As soon as possible they will be listed on the web site.

SHOW ATTENDANCE

We will have at least 2 weekend this year where we are covering 2 shows. They are Bristol 0 Gauge 25 Jan with Southampton 24/25 Jan, and Leamington & Warwick 7/8 March with Kettering 0 Gauge 7 March.

We will endeavour to take as much stock as we can to all shows, but there will be some limits so pre-ordering is advised.

We now have a second Evergreen stand so this product range will be at both shows. We have spare racks for nuts and bolts, straight wire, sheet metals, tubes, and most of the larger metal strips, so these will go to both.

We only have one set of Plastruct stands and at present do not intend to take them to Bristol. Similarily the small strips and metal sections rack will go to Southampton and not to Bristol. We will not be taking Slaters sheets and strips to Bristol as Slaters themselves will be there.

We have not yet decided on which products are going to Leamington & Warwick and which will be at Kettering. We will cover this in the next newsletter.

STOCK LEVELS

We have recently received new deliveries of Hold and Folds and are so are delighted to announce that all sizes are in stock.

Also all sizes of Antex Irons are now in stock. As you may be aware we are now planning to stock Antex in preference to Weller. We do have a small number of Weller 15W and 25W irons that we will discount by 50% at shows, so please ask if you want one. We aim to continue to stock Weller replacement bits.

Most of our normal items are in stock. The following items have been in short supply but are due in this week:

Metal Sections and Strips.

6/0 Piercing Saw Blades.

Avonside Chassis2 (all sizes).

14BA Taper Taps, we have 2nd and Plug, and hope to have Taper within 2 weeks.

Items that are on longer lead times and have been on order since before Christmas include:

1.5mm X 1.0mm and 1.5mm x 0.5mm Brass Tubes.

0.5mm HSS Drills.

0.8mm HSS Drill (Very low Stock).

Eclipse 60 TPI Piercing Saw Blades.

Brass Assist (Both Sizes) due later this month.

Long term problems include:

TT62 tubes (not been coming in from supplier for months).

Evergreen EG293 and EG296 - Plastruct equivalents are available.

12BA taps. Our primary supplier of taps has dropped 12BA due to manufacturing problems with the tool. Our secondary suppliers 12BA taps seem undersize (possibly using a tool from the same tool manufacturer). We are working to try to establish a viable source, but it will take some time. Meanwhile, we have no 12BA taper or 2nd taps and extremely limited stocks of plug taps.

PRODUCT QUALITY

We always strive to offer excellent quality products. In some cases we offer budget priced options where there is a demand for them.

We have recently become aware that the our latest batch of the Blue Metric Microbox Drill Sets (DRMBM02) have fallen below the standards we expect from them. This does not seem to apply to the Number Drill Sets or the Shanked Drill Sets. These problems do not apply to our High Speed Steel drills which are all Dormer Branded A100 drills, or to Carbon Steel Drills (part numbers starting DRC).

Listening to reports from customers it is our belief that this problem is not unique to us, but that the quality of these drills have dropped from other sources too. We have now sourced a better quality set that we are distinguishing from the lower quality by calling them 'Watchmakers Quality' with part number DRMBM01 and are available at £10. We are clearing out the lower quality ones and calling them 'Budget Quality' at the reduced price of £5.
