Miniature Connectors

Postby John Bateson » Fri Jun 20, 2014 5:08 pm

I would like to source a dozen very small connectors, 2 pin. WL recommended some a while ago but my keyword searches have failed to dig this out.
Anyway, smaller ones than those would be good, current expected is <200mA (Mashima 1224) fully loaded.
The model aircraft people seem to have a good selection but all the adverts are short on detrail, such as actual size.

Can anybody advise?

I was going to suggest pin connectors, Maplin part JW59P, but the sockets are not listed.

How about these?

Connector is 1/8" square, but they're quite pricey.

David,
I have bought some of these in the past - but yes, they are a bit pricey, so was looking for an alternative.

Try these from All Components. I use the 2 pin connector to connect pickups to motor. 95p each. Size ⅜" x 3/16".

Similar to Keith's suggestion but just the plugs (you have to buy the inserts as well - available separately).

The benefit of the pre-made wires is you get both male and female with wires already attached, no need to solder/crimp the inserts. By using male and female appropriately they can be handed to avoid connecting the wrong way, if you need to you can glue them together in pairs.
Downside is that the wire may not be as flexible as you would like, in which case you are back to self assembly.
There are smaller versions available, 1.27 mm spacing but, so far as I can see the male side always needs fixing to a pcb.
