POST
As many of you are aware it is now a Criminal Offence to send "Dangerous Goods" by post. We have been seeking clarification from Royal Mail as there are several seemingly unreasonable constraints and anomalies in their less than detailed list.
An example of this is that we are unable to send the Life Colour sets of 6 paints. While we can send up to 4 containers of 150ml each, totalling 600ml, we are not allowed to send one of these sets containing only 132ml of paint, because they are in 6 pots.
As a reminder, items on the banned list will be sent by Courier within the UK. Courier costs start from £5 which is less then you may think. Deliveries to Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man etc., will use a different courier and may take up to 1 week, but will be charged at the same rate.
We regret that we are unable to deliver such items to Europe, Rest of World and Channel Islands at a reasonable price.
We have had a number of instances where customers have ordered items in longer lengths than they need which has caused the postage to increase considerably, so here is a brief guide to keeping the post down:
If you are ordering Metal or Plastic Sections, do not order over 14" unless you really need the length. As an example the post on a mix of 250mm long metric sections and 12" long imperial sections is £3, but if you include a length of 500mm it will be £7.50. This is because we can send the shorter lengths as a Large Letter and the longer lengths become a Package with significantly higher costs. All Evergreen sections are within the lower cost, but many Plastruct items are longer, so please check first.
If you need any items that are on the post office banned list order as many as you can together. This presently includes all liquids and pastes and any item that carries a hazard label. All such items fit into a small courier bag so £5 P&P applies, but if long lengths of materials as above are included then a larger courier bag is required so the £7.50 rate will apply.
Very long lengths, over 660mm, will go by courier and be charged at £12 as secure packing is very difficult. Where the product will not be damaged we will gently coil products to keep the postage down. Examples are Straight Piano Wire up to 1mm diameter which will spring straight on opening.
Shipping costs are capped at £5 for orders over £60 and free for orders over £130. These limits do not apply to trade orders.
If you want a long length of Brass and are happy for it to be coiled please tell us so we can keep the costs down.
