Does it automatically adjust for paper sizes other than A4?

Hi Keith,

Do you mean when calibrating the printer?

To perform a printer calibration Templot needs paper no smaller than A4 or US-Letter sizes, used in Portrait mode. If the paper is larger than that, the printer calibration sheets will be printed at the top-left of the paper, at the same A4 sizes.

If printing on very large paper, such as a CAD wide-format roll-paper printer, the printer calibration can be performed manually if preferred by measuring the grid lines on trial printed templates. The calibration factors can then be calculated and entered directly. Of course that requires that you have some means of making accurate measurements (ideally to 0.1mm) over several feet. A normal calibration in the top corner of the paper would be easier.

If printing on paper smaller than A4 (does anyone use an A5 printer for Templot?), the same process of measuring the grid lines can be used.

Or did you mean when printing templates? Once the printer has been calibrated, the same correction factors will be used regardless of the paper size when template printing.

p.s. On an old or worn printer, you can experiment with the "data distortion" settings in Templot, to correct for a tapered or out-of-square feed roller. But you are on your own to do the trial and error needed. program > expert > data distortions > menu items.

regards,

Martin.

No I mean when giving the warnings.
Its not clear from the screenshot whether the "should be" dimensions will change or if they are hard coded for A4.

Hi Keith,

The calibration test sheet sizes are hard-coded at 180mm x 240mm. The size of the paper is irrelevant. If it is smaller than A4 or US-Letter, the test sheet won't fit on it and will overlap the paper. If it is larger than A4 it will print in the corner of the paper, still at 180mm x 240mm.

Surely you have done a Templot printer calibration at some stage over the years? It has been exactly the same since day 1 (17 years ago) and no-one has reported any problems with the process, assuming a properly working printer.

Ok Martin, I'm with you now thanks.

I have, but only ever had A4 printers at home and never used Templot at work.
I was just expecting the calibration to be at the print margin.
