Finley 28xx
I have been building this for a long time and have almost finished. But I cannot see any way of fixing pickups to either the loco or tender. Any suggestions please?

Hi.
It may not be the best time to start thinking about how to fit pickups when a loco is nearly finished as these things are sometimes easier to incorporate if designed in at the chassis stage. However hopefully someone who has actually built one will have a solution.

Hi
Yes it's better to think about it before making the chassis. Now it depends how fussy you want to be.
I bought this already completed loco which had tender wiper pickups, and the loco couldn't pull the tender let alone a train, so I modified it to have loco pickups. Can you see them?
Perhaps you can in the second photo. But does it matter? I must blacken them, but I can live with the dodge otherwise. I put double sided pcb strip where the loco driving wheel brake pull rod is and fashioned pickups from there. Single sided would be fine, just some gapping to do.

Finney GWR 1854 chassis. Copperclad soldered between the smokebox sides. Copperclad attatched to front spacers too.

Yes it is phosphor bronze. I also use 30 swg which is lighter but I just used this heavier stuff which has been in my box for decades. I think it’s about .45mm
