If the 101 has stub axles the same as the 104 and 108 then Brachlines do excellent conversion sets which I have used, but not having a 101 I can't confirm that they are the same. Bachmann do seem to like changing things. Probably someone on here who knows.

Ah i'm actually interested in this model for my Sodor layout too, not in a rush, but would be like to hear what some people have used. I've ordered Two ultacsale conversion packets for a Heljan Heymek and Cobo, but one person advised against using them as he found that the wheels moved out of gauge some years later- this is all new to me, so I like to hear who's doing what.

Hi Neil,
I agree with Keith, I've used branchlines wheels in my 105 and they're really quite easy once you've got the old wheels apart which can cause a little grunting... Jim SW showed me a drg of a small tool he used but I think in the end I just started to prise the plastic inner axle with a flat bade of a screwdriver and then eased it off the wheel to be reused.

It's probably worth pointing out that bachmann messed up the window positions on thier 101 and in terms of getting a model that looks like a real 101, you are better off with a Lima one.
