GWR 60ft Track Panels

Postby Brinkly » Thu Aug 07, 2014 7:33 pm

Greetings,

Is there a PDF version of the GWR 60ft track panel? I would like to create a template for track work, but cannot find one. I do have Templot, but wouldn't know where to start with it!

Regards,

Nick.

Digest 23.5.5.10 perhaps? Which is here (PDF).

There are others in the Trackwork section too.

Sorry but 60' would not be correct for Horrabridge, unless you are absolutely sure (count the sleepers between joints), more likely is 44', 44'6" or even 32'. I made that mistake with Clutton, not knowing better at the time (1990!).

The remaining Wye Valley is still laid in 32' rails, I even saw the Up Loop at Bicester in the 90s laid in 32' rails!

Oh thank you Tim, I had no idea!! I will get counting!

Regards,

Nick.

Edit - On closer inspection they appear to be smaller! Look like 44'. Cheers Tim!

Hi Nick,

Stuart Hince has written a tutorial on setting up custom rail lengths and sleeper spacings in Templot. It's specifically for the GWR 44ft-6in rails, but easy to change the numbers for other prototypes:
