I ordered and have received a pair of bars from Gibsons (no photo so a blind order). They are ,as I had hoped, fitted with an insulated centre and 0.8mm brass wires.
The nub of the matter is: What is the best way to fit them? I have put in place a functional arrangement make up from vero board which I reckon will be tolerant of a H&M +ve action switch m/c. Is it worth drilling the rail in order to pierce and solder or does one try the great fiddle of bending the wires to lie parallel to the rail and solder them inside the blade?
The alternative being: Am I about to discover that it is not a good idea!

Peter

If you are using them cosmetically then they shouldn't have much pressure on them so you could drill the rail and fit them prototypically. I guess the hardest part will the the drilling of the rails.

Try this then Jim, although the modern version in your pic actually needs more holes drilled in the rail for the fixing bolts.

Thanks Keith
Generally as things 'evolve' they get simpler. Doesn't seem the way with track though, while the formations are usually simplified the actual track seems to get more and more 'scruffy'!
