Aerosol primer for polypropylene is available from car repair places. It is intended for car bumpers. I have successfully used it for painting small polypropylene components, followed by normal car body red oxide primer. Essentially it seems to be a clear thin film adhesive, which is reactivated by the solvent in the red oxide primer and "sticks" the paint film in place. The hazard warning on the can is no worse than for other car body aerosols -- no mention of 200 years!.
When dry it can be over-painted or airbrushed in the usual way.
