Exactoscale items for turnout construction

Postby La Cathedrale » Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:51 pm

I've laid track in S7, S, EM and 2mmFS and I figure it might be worth attempting P4! I've been looking at the stock list kindly provided by Steve Carter and I was hoping to clarify whether I will need ALL of the following for some straight track, with a turnout or slip on a test plank?

141A - 10m code 75 rail £11.50
4CH101A - 500 S1 chairs £20
4CH201A (L1), £8.50
4CH203A (M1) £4.50 - for a slip
4CH302A (slide chairs) £8.50
4CHA402A (check chairs) £8.50
4NTPL18 - 18 sleepers 45’ panel £5 for 10
4XXPCT0 - crossing timbers £5
192 or DD 192 flange way gauge - £4.50 (what's the difference?)
193 checkrail gauge - £6.70
197 track gauge - £1.75
P0001 - fishplates £6

Presumably in addition to the above, I'll also need one each of 4CH501A and 4CH502A (chairs for A, B, C switches and chairs for 1:5-1:10 common crossings) , and/or 4CH503A/504A for each feature?

Is that correct?

Cheers,

I would suggest getting the 1:8 turnout bases for the turnout and the double slip, easier than individual timbers.
You need a triangular track gauge, item 190, not the i97 gauge, the latter is Ok for checking platform clearance and buffer height, not much use for building track.
The 192 gauge is a straight strip, the DD192 is a circular washer, IMHO the straight version is better.

Also worthwhile getting a Society membership then you will be able to read all the detailed articles in the Scalefour News and on the forum on how to do it.
