Loose heeled switches

Postby proto87stores » Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:08 pm

Lest anyone think that modelling loose heel switches in 4mm is complicated, difficult, or unreliable, I have been shipping 100% standard prototype US style loose heel HO turnout kits successfully since around 2003. It is is easier for me since we use FB rail, but the engineering principles would be the same for a UK bullhead method. As Martin mentions, the point length (to the rail joint hinge) is increased slightly for coarse versus proto standards, but not as much as is obvious and common on commercial track.

Note the most common US practice is to have straight points.
