Barry,

Branchlines are at ExpoEM at Bracknell overg the weekend, so very much still in business. However, they do not have an internet site.

David D,

Eileen's Emporium look like they are moving into more "mainsteam" products such as Parkside kits, etc. and have fewer of the types of products they used to specialise in, especially in the days of Eileen and Jim or Roger Sawyer, so a more general, regional, show such as Stafford may be a better commercial opportunity.

Phi Atkinson of Hobby Holidays has rather taken over the role but as a 7mm modeller, tends to concentrate more on the GOG events.

I was surprised that, despite a good selection of traders at Bracknell yesterday, none were selling Carr's Products.

Carr's are now under the Phoenix Precision stable who are also not on the attendees list. Also absent are GW who produce rolling bars, riveting tools etc.

Both were present at my last visit to S4rum.

Both Phoenix Precision and GW Models have been invited to Scaleforum 2022 but have declined to attend.

Hobby Holidays have also been invited, although we are still waiting for a response, despite having chased.

Cheers

I am certain that I remember reading that George Watts (GW Models) was no longer attending exhibitions (although continuing to sell by "mail") because old age was creeping up on him. I have seen a recent comment elsewhere that he has become difficult to contact despite continuing to advertise in MRJ, so it may have become the case that old age has finally overtaken him, fortunately I have a reasonably full set of his products!

I see that you have advised that the retailer retailer Branchlines will be attending Scaleforum on the 24/25 September. I understand that Branchlines was sold a few years ago. For the past two years I have been trying to contact the new owners on line, but without success?
It would seem now that they are still trading, if so, does anyone have up to date contact details.

Thanking you in advance

Hi Barry

Brian Osborne, the owner of Branchlines, can be contacted via sales@branchlines.com

Hope that helps?

That may well be the case. George came to Scaleforum 2009 but someone else drove him to the show. I believe that he had someone who was going to continue making things.

Hobby Holidays were at the Great Electric Train Show in October and were still planning to continue then.

David Dornom wrote:Looking at the list of traders, I notice that Eileen's Emporium is also not listed.

The clash of dates with the Stafford show this year has caused problems for some traders who normally attend both shows.

I'm pleased to announce that we have confirmed three more traders for Scaleforum 2022. The first post in this topic has been updated to show this.

We welcome back the established names of London Road Models, and Dart Castings. They will be bringing their wide ranges of cast and etched kits and details.

We're delighted to have a new trader to Scaleforum in the form of Pre-Grouping Railways. They will offer a range of early wagon kits from a variety of pre-Grouping railway companies.

You can find details of each of these traders, and links to their websites, at http://www.scaleforum.org

Paul, it is sounding like a wonderful return to Scaleforum!

I must admit I hope all the traders do wonderfully out of this, they deserve it.

I hope every one really enjoys the weekend. I wonder if my roving reporter will keep his Whatsapp photos running all day the way he did at Expo EM. its the only way I will make it for awhile!

Branchlines were at Expo EM at the weekend but I know that the new owner doesn't do much on line. I am sure someone will be along latter with and address, post code and a phone number

The pinned first post has been updated to include a downloadable flyer that you can cut out and keep.

Sorry, that's a bit 1980s. I was forgetting myself for a moment. Download and print, or share with your friends. It's in PDF format, so requires nothing special to open or view.

Unfortunately we've been notified that Dave Bradwell is unable to attend Scaleforum 2022 at Cressex School, High Wycombe, as a trader.

We are obviously disappointed that he won't be at our show, although his excellent range of kits will still be available online at https://traders.scalefour.org/DaveBradwell/

Inspired by a bridge. As seen in the August 2020 British Railway modelling, Boston Frodsham will be a star layout at Scaleforum 2022...

I'm looking forward to the return of this show. It has been amongst the best on the calendar imo since I started going.

In previous years I've been on the DEMU stand, but I've stepped back from doing the roadshow stands for DEMU due to my health and the loss of my car (a combination of the car getting too old and last year have a brake failure care of a burst brake line at 50mph! thankfully I didn't indicate left when I realised the brakes were failing and so the car at the junction didn't pull out, it was pulled to the side of the road safely for the RAC to tow home, where it has sat since). I am not sure what the status of the DEMU stand at Scaleforum is currently, a request for volunteers has been made, but I can't in my current state manage carrying stuff, so will leave it to others, though I'll probably be on the stand.

Having done quite a lot of demonstrations over the years, I jave not been aware of it being difficult for people to talk and ask questions. Perhaps that is because there have not been many people interesting in what I was offering. I think whoever is demonstrating needs to be aware of anyone who might be waiting to ask a question.

In recent years, rather than use a table, I have taken a couple of layout trestles and a flat board so people stand in front rather than sit. This puts everything higher so no need to sit down therefore less inclination to just sit and chat. :) Seems to work.

Terry Bendall

Whilst this is indeed a workable solution, it does have some limitations (like a lot of layouts do) with regards wheelchair users seeing over the top of the boards. Previously for me in a mobility scooter this hasn't been too much of a problem as I was able to stand for a time, but now currently thats not the case anymore, but I'll figure things out somehow now I am confined to wheelchair and crutches (for short periods).

Shame. He's one of the reasons I go to Scaleforum.

Still, at least the other ones haven't withdrawn :thumb

One of the "attractions" that the Society would like to be able to present is a video of the event, which would be uploaded to our YouTube channel afterwards. Unfortunately, our efforts to secure someone to do this have come to nothing and so, if you have the equipment and editing skills and would be happy to undertake the task, the Committee would love to hear from you. Please contact myself or any other Committee member and we will be happy to explain what is required

John.

Hi John,
Clearly I will be a little busy over the weekend, but I'd be most happy to capture some footage where possible and/or edit footage which others might be able to shoot and share.
As a side note, I could incorporate some footage into one of my YouTube videos prior to the event to highlight the fine exhibits visitors could expect to see, so if there are any exhibitors (or traders) with something to share then do please get in touch.

James

Hi James,

Thanks for your kind offer. Ted Stephens has come forward and volunteered to make the video. He would like someone to take some stills that he can slot into the video so if you could do that in liaison with Ted that would be great. I will contact you later via email and put you in touch with Ted

John.

We're very pleased to announce that Intentio (whose products can be seen on their website https://www.intentio.shop) have just confirmed that they will be attending Scaleforum 2022 as a trader. They have an excellent variety of laser cut building kits, with an emphasis on East Anglia.

That's in addition to the GER Society stand which we are delighted to see attend for the very first time.

So there's much to tempt you towards modelling the Eastern way, rather than the Great Western Way...

Cheers
Paul
