You are quite right, Richard. James's pen must have slipped! Thank you for pointing out the error.

Bookings made after 1600 on Friday 16th can only be for Sunday 18th April.

See you in the lounge?

Derek.

Don't worry, Derek, I'll take the flak for the mistake! Looking at your original words though, you wrote "Bookings can be made immediately for both days, but those received after 16:00 GMT on Friday 16th April can only be for Sunday 17th (sic) April. No same-day bookings will be accepted."

So surely, it should read "Bookings made after 1700 BST on Friday 16th can only be for Sunday 18th April." I hope this is correct.

There's no need to take the flack, James, especially as the error was mine. Sincere apologies.

The cut-off time on the 16th is indeed 1700 BST for Saturday bookings. Any received after that time can only be for Sunday 18th April.

Derek.

Nominative determinism in action? Plenty of interesting items in the programme, so I'm also looking forward to this show.

John and Howard,

This is neither a send-up nor an error. Lightburn really is Julie's name!

I can confidently say that you will enjoy the show, but I would, wouldn't I?

Derek.

Well I never...

Very much looking forward to the show Derek, and Julie's demo in particular!

Best wishes,

It really is quite amusing since Lightburn is the name of the software that I use for controlling the laser cutter I have (and excellent software it is too). https://lightburnsoftware.com/

What a coincidence!

I may be being incredibly thick here but, in order to choose a meeting, it would be helpful to know what topics are to be discussed, demonstrated etc.
Am I missing something?
The instructions in the posting above do not appear do what is suggested.

I am not sure that I understand why booking is necessary. I don't recall having to book for Scaleforum last September. The material was simply made available on the Society's website.

I am not sure whether I can or can't be online on the Saturday, so I will just have to see on the day whether access is possible, either then or afterwards. If not, then I suppose I shall just have to miss it.

It looks as though people are starting to get muddled up about this. For this event I am not involved in the organisation, but hopefully I can clarify.

The event, Virtual Scalefour North International, will be avaialable via the Society's website.

From next Saturday onwards, just go to the main page for the link. All of the content will continue to be available afterwards to members and non-members and will continue to be available for the forseeable future, just as the Virtual Scaleforum content still is.

To view the show no booking or registration is neccessary.

The 'West Riding Lounge' however is intended as a Social opportunity and because it will take place via Zoom needs to be booked in advance so that participants can be sent the log in details. Of course you can view the exhibition content without visiting the West Riding Lounge if you wish.

At a live evexhibition, you can meet your friends and have a cuupa and a chat and you can also visit the Society Stand and chat to the Committee members there. That is obviously impossible at the moment so what Derek is hoping for is that people will arrange to meet their friends via this facility during the day on Saturday or Sunday, or visit to have a chat with the Committee members who will be hosting each meeting.

To answer Jim's query, these Zoom meetings are not Demos or Lectures and do not have any set content, they are, as I've already said, intended as a social opportunity. However if you do come along there's nothing to stop anyone showing off their models or talking about their projects or activities from during lock-down.

All the Best
Danny

As the person who is responsible for the Virtual S4NI Website this year, to reiterate what Danny has said:

1. There will (once I get round to editing the page) be a very clear link to the show at the top of the Society website front page which will take you to the welcome page for VS4NI from where all the content for the show can be accessed. Like the website that was created for Scaleforum 2020, the VS4NI site will remain accessible after the weekend.

2. The requirement to book the Zoom session(s) you would like to attend has been done so that we don't have to publish the details of the meetings publicly and so that the committee members who are hosting the meetings have an idea, in advance, of how many people are likely to turn up. Emails to the published address come to me and, in return, you get an email back with a link to the relevant meeting.

Looking forward to this! Are you planning to publish a list of layouts appearing and other attractions as well as the demonstrations etc. already shown?

All power to your elbows VSNI organisers! (or should that be digits?) :thumb

WEST RIDING LOUNGE

There are still plenty of places available in the lounge on both Saturday and Sunday. However, if you wish to enter the lounge you can only do so by making an advance booking. For Saturday, please make your booking by teatime (5pm) on Friday. Those made after that can be for Sunday only. No same day bookings can be accepted. To make a booking, choose a time and send an e-mail, including your name, to:

forumsupport@ scalefour.org

You will then receive an e-mail in reply with the joining instructions.

Derek.

I'm looking forward to a great weekend :thumb

Scalefour North is normally a time when we are pleased to welcome many new members who join us at the show and its also an opportunity for existing members to renew their membership. Whilst the Society Stand won't be a physical presence this year it will be there virtually.

If you enjoy your experience of Virtual Scalefour North International and are thinking of joining us then please visit the Virtual Membership Stand where you will find more information about the benefits of membership and details of how to join.

You will find the Virtual Membership Stand in the Society Information section of the Virtual Scalefour North website. There is also a link there to enable existing members to renew their membership for 2021/22.

Enjoy the weekend, I will :thumb
